![]() Can it be that the driver code is so F'd up it kicks the bucket because of that? No way man! I refuse to believe until proven otherwise. My monitor is plugged thru a DisplayPort connection, and it does have build-in speakers for some godforsaken reason, which I disabled. Repaired both versions of C++ 2015-2019, and restarted the system. I don't think other components may influence the process. Best thing to do is to check the install log: C:Program FilesAMDCIMLogInstall.log I had an issue with C++ 2017, so I followed this. My system configuration is: ASUS Radeon RX 6900XT (reference model), Ryzen 7 5800X, ASUS Crosshair VIII Hero Wi-Fi. What is infuriating, I'm using an external Samsung ODYSSEY Display with a 5120 Resolution. After the AMD Software uninstalled the older version, and rebooted, then while installing the new version, it stopped because of ERROR 1603. I hereby request that AMD driver development team make it possible to choose what elements of driver package to install under advanced installation options so that it would be possible to thoroughly skip HDMI Audio installation instead of waiting for 3-5 minutes for it to process whatever it does and then spew a 1603. July 7, 2022Size: 842.73 MB I proceed to download and install it. I even updated the BIOS to the latest version and uninstalled my audio drivers completely in safe mode thru DDU, as well as previous video driver before attempting 21.2.1, but it still failed. I tried ALL things listed in the help section it redirects to, and most advice from the internet I found on my own - didn't work. The video driver itself installs just fine - I can configure it, play games, work, watch videos etc. I tried EVERYTHING (except re-isntalling Windows itself, obviously), but it still does that. AMD Software Installer should automatically launch and check the system for driver. Note: It is recommended to use the default location. Best to simply download and install only from the AMD site, imo.So, my issue: when trying to install video driver package (adrenalin software) I get an " Error 1603 - A general error has occured." specifically at the stage of installing HDMI Audio Driver, usually around 92% (21.1.1) or 95% (21.2.1). To setup and install AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition, follow these steps: After the download is complete, open the save folder and double-click the file to begin setup. Also, if you have Win10 Pro, you'll want to set a policy of not receiving device-driver installs with your Win10 updates from Microsoft, because Microsoft only installs the minimum driver and you may therefore wind up with *mixed* driver files being active-that can definitely cause problems. Have no idea if that is the case, but these days if I want to be "sure" when I install a driver I go the clean install route. Wish I knew why it happened at all-my only theory is that it results after x number of forced driver installs on top of each other-no clean installs, etc. Please pardon me if my memory here is hazy, it's been awhile since this happened-I do recall the experience as somewhat annoying, however, so I can sympathize with those who also have the problem. ![]() The error will simply repeat-at least, I recall it happening to me that way. You would think this should be sufficient to rectify a partial install-but it isn't, for some reason. Aprenda a resolver o Erro 1603 Ocorreu um erro geral durante a instalação do pacote de software da AMD, veja neste vídeo e não esquece de deixar aquele lik. The approach I found that doesn't work at all, is to simply try to force install the newer drivers on top of the partial install, IIRC. You can easily find 20.4.1 from the net (a site called guru3D should have them should you not find them from AMD’s site). Or, you could boot into safe mode and uninstall manually, reboot and then reinstall the desired driver. As I’ve mentioned in this comment thread, all the drivers after Adrenalin 20.4.1 (from AMD’s site) are incompatible with Hades Canyon. Or you can use DDU, if you want, as elstaci suggests. Or, you could try uninstalling the partial first via programs and features-rebooting and then installing the driver you want-but really, clean install automates that process for you. Weirdly, you may find that you have to do back-to-back clean installs to correct the problem-as a single clean install may not suffice. ![]() My solution was simply to clean install the newer driver you want to install-this should uninstall the partial driver correctly and then install the correct driver. I've had this happen, as well-once or twice. ![]()
